Welcome To The Center For Rural Planning Web Site
The Center for Rural Planning (CRP) is a nonprofit organization formed to support communities in determining their own destinies. We are an experienced group of people who feel that rural planning is best accomplished by the communities themselves. We have a collective skill base reflected in our many years of experience in land use planning, natural resource management, local community based planning, facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution; sociological analysis; engineering, and design.
Our purpose as an organization is to assist communities in planning for change based on community visions, natural resources and economic sustainability. We believe that land use planning can provide opportunities not only for producing plans, but can also provide opportunities for building community relationships and community leaders. We believe that we can help because of our experience, expertise and appreciation of the necessity for sustaining rural communities and environments.
What this means to you is that we can:
• Help communities define and determine their planning needs and possibilities for community based planning. We focus on building communities and leadership while developing community plans.
• Help locate grant monies and other resources for community planning.
• Provide planning expertise as we work with you through the planning process.

• Help with conflict resolution that is a part of every aspect of a diverse, rural community by providing alternative ways to resolve land use conflicts.
• Provide training in community planning as well as sharing tools for effective management of change in rural communities.
• We are always continuing our research in community based planning to develop new tools and strategies for managing change in rural communities and making those tools accessible and useable for citizens.
All of these things are hands on learning and doing activities. We bring our organization's assistance, but you plan, resolve and act on what your community needs.
